Kroger 200 Race Recap - Hornaday Earns Sixth-Place Finish at ORP,
Scores Fifth Top-10 Finish at Track in Nationwide Series

CLERMONT, Ind. (July 26, 2009) — Making NASCAR Truck Series history on Friday night at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis by becoming the first driver in Truck Series history to win four races in a row, Ron Hornaday shifted gears on Saturday night to climb behind the wheel of the No. 33 Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) Vlasic Pickles Chevrolet for the Nationwide Series Kroger 200. Starting the race from the eighth position, Hornaday ran the entire race in the top nine before taking the checkered flag from the sixth position.

“I have to thank the guys and Ernie Cope for bringing such a good car and Kevin and DeLana (Harvick, team co-owners) for giving me this opportunity,” said Hornaday. “Our Vlasic Pickles Chevrolet was really fast and the guys did a good job all night making adjustments to get us where we needed to be.”

With the race under way, Hornaday had his eyes set on the front and quickly began running the high-line around .686-mile track. Following several early cautions, Hornaday was able to take the lead on lap 34 and led the next 19 laps before being passed on lap 53 by the No. 5 car of Scott Wimmer.

Continuing to run in the second position, Hornaday opted to pit on lap 91 under caution for four tires, an air-pressure adjustment, fuel and repairs to the minor damage on the right front fender sustained from close, short-track racing. With teams opting for various strategies, Hornaday restarted the race on lap 96 in the fifth position.

Solidly running fifth, Hornaday slowly started to slip on lap 121 dropping to the sixth position as the car became too tight from the center off the corner. As the car got tighter, Hornaday slipped to ninth on lap 155 and the team began preparing for their next stop. Luckily, the caution flag waved on lap 168 allowing the team to pit for four tires, an air-pressure adjustment, track-bar adjustment, fuel and more repairs to the right-front fender. With encouragement from team co-owner Kevin Harvick to both Hornaday and the team for their fast stop, the No. 33 Vlasic Pickles Chevrolet restarted the race on lap 174 in the ninth position.

Continuing under green-flag conditions, Hornaday was able to gain several positions to finish the Kroger 200 with a sixth-place finish. Carl Edwards won the race, followed by Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Brad Keselowski and Steve Wallace.

Kevin Harvick Captures First Nationwide Series Win in a KHI-Owned Car
Now Leads the All-Time Nationwide Win List at Bristol

BRISTOL, Tenn. (March 23, 2009) — Kevin Harvick and the No. 33 Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) Armour Chevrolet team scored their first victory of the season and the first win for driver and team co-owner Kevin Harvick in a KHI-owned car in Saturday’s Scott’s Turf Builder 300 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. The 33-year-old captured his 33rd-career Nationwide Series victory behind the wheel of the No. 33 Chevrolet, and now leads the all-time Nationwide Series win list at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway with five wins in the series.

“Finally, we got this out of the way,” said Harvick after climbing from his Armour Chevrolet in Victory Lane. “Everybody did a great job today. There’s been a tremendous amount of pressure that I’ve put on myself and probably more pressure than any of the guys want to see at the shop over the last year, but it’s been well worth the reward today. I guess it’s kind of fitting that it comes on what’s been my most successful track in the Nationwide Series, here at Bristol, and I’m just glad it all finally came together.”

Starting the race from the 13th position, Harvick quickly began his move to the front taking over the 10th position on lap two, but was battling with a loose-handling car. Continuing to run fast laps, Harvick moved into the top five on lap 50 and reported the car was coming around.

Picking off cars one-by-one, Harvick was able to move into second on lap 80, but was concerned that his alternator was failing so he turned off all fans.

Under the fourth caution of the day on lap 85, Harvick pitted for four scuffed tires, an air-pressure adjustment and fuel. The race restarted on lap 92 with Harvick in the third position.

Settling into the second position, Harvick informed crew chief Ernie Cope on lap 136 that the car was too loose and the team needed to adjust the air pressure. Several laps later on lap 140, the team pitted for four tires and fuel. Harvick restarted the race on lap 143 in the third position.

Maintaining his position in the top three, Harvick continued to battle a loose-handling car. With the laps winding down, Harvick pitted for the last time under caution on lap 253 for four tires and fuel. The No. 33 team had a solid pit stop and maintained their second-place position on the track after pit stops cycled through. However, the No. 18 car earned a penalty for a pit road violation and Harvick restarted the race on lap 259 from the first position. Pulling away from the field and leading the final 41 laps, Harvick was able to capitalize and earn his first Nationwide Series victory in a KHI-owned car.
